Fire District 19, Mahoning Valley EMS and Lehighton ALS 5620 were dispatched to area of 115 Mile marker on D & L Trail for a rescue possible still on the river in Lehigh Township at 12:23 hours. Shortly after dispatch 1901,1902 and 1904 went responding with 1955. A few minutes after 1941 went responding 2 firefighters and 1903 had 2 firefighters with him also. 1955 was the first piece of apparatus to arrive on scene. 1901 took command of the incident while 1902 took operations command of the incident. Once we arrived on scene 1901 began setting up ropes and rigging system while 1902 and 1904 put on PFDs and took the stokes basket and medical supplies down the embankment. District 19 requested Weatherly Fire for manpower to assist with this rescue. Most of district 19 personnel went down the to assist with the rescue. One of our firefighters brought down a chainsaw to clear a path of the brush to make it easier to extricate the patient in the stokes basket. We had to retrieve the patient off the island in the river and transport the patient in the stokes basket in a raft from the island to the river left bank. Once we got the raft to the rivers edge we moved the from patient out of the raft and started moving the patient in the basket up the embankment. We then hooked the stokes up to the rigging system and started pulling the basket up the embankment where District 20 personnel assisted in that. Once we got the patient up on the bike trail patient care was transferred to EMS and loaded into the ambulance. Then 2071 and 1941 with 1902 as LZ officer went to Penn Haven Junction and established a Landing Zone with LED Flares. Once the LZ was setup Life Flight 6 was spotted and 1902 gave aeromedical a brief description of the LZ. After flying over the helicopter landed. Once the patient was transferred from Ambulance to helicopters liter district 20 personnel assisted with loading the patient into helicopter. Once the helicopter was back in the air 1902 cleared all units and everyone went available and returned to their station. The incident took approximately 2 hours to clear this incident. Other units on scene were district 20(2071), District19 19(1941,1955), 665, 5620, PSP Hazleton, Hickory Run Rangers, PA Fish & Boat Commission and Life Flight 6.
